All Those Times

All those times I should have been with you, but instead I traveled far;

Sometimes for weeks I’d leave your side, as you cried “Daddy, where you are?”!

But every time I came home again, you’d be there to love me up;

No matter how long I was gone, you were always my loving pup!

Then one day you left my side, as my heart was torn in two;

For I could not stand just one of them, to suffer without you!

Now the days have turned to months, eighteen at my last count;

But I’ll cry forever with each one, no matter how high the amount!

For without you I have withered so, my saddened heart such pain;

My soul cries every night for you, as it yearns for you again!

All those times I chose to travel, then I’d come home to your embrace;

But you took just one trip and left, with the pain that I now face!

For unlike the times I returned, your journey was just one way;

To the Firmament of Heaven’s gate, forever there to stay!

Now the trip, for which I pray, is the one that you took too;

So I may spend eternity, in the Firmaments with you!
