Allusion

It calls to my mind

Calls like the cry of a new born

Calls like a ram caught in the thickets

Knows nothing of this poison

It reaches out to my infection

Naively seeking my soul

Through mediating symbols it peers into my eyes

Like a signal bouncing off planets searching for life

"Are you alive?"

Am I it's carbon universe

Am I the hand that feeds it

Is God my offspring

Or is he the offspring of Death

How can one born of death live

Where is the breast from which he may suckle

Is this compulsion the birthing of my womb

Can I decline Gabriel's invitation

How can I host a child that isn't mine

How can I not
