Poem -

ALONE IN THE WORLD

Alone in the world is a bad place to beĀ
No one here to comfort or protect me
I will sleep by the shop doorway once more
Hoping the rain will not continue to pour

Alone in the world is a bad place to beĀ
Just another homeless man as you can see
I look in my cap and see at least fifty pence
Please put some more in I won't take offenceĀ

Alone in the world is a bad place to beĀ
Nothing in this life is given for freeĀ
A bed and a meal for the night is all I needĀ
Would make me so happy that is guaranteed
