Amongst The Living

I walk slowly through a gallery
Of the living that I know
Strange now that I find not one
Who feels at all like home
Friends lovers sisters brothers
Line my path from birth to now
yet,
No one do I recognise,
All are strangers here somehow
For not one is familiar, there are
none I know to greet, there are no
familiar pathways, I see no
familiar streets
But tis no one who has changed
at all
Except perhaps for I, so happen
when I layed you dead,
Twas I too that did die

Hi Marion
Detachment is a horrible feeling. You penned it well here,
But tis no one who has changed
at all
Except perhaps for I, so happen
when I layed you dead,
Twas I too that did die
These ending lines just choke the reader and plunges them into that numbing sadness, that deep grief can birth. Feeling dead inside
your words are always so powerfully conveyed. This really hits the heartstringsÂ

Thankyou my friend...looks like we are both doing some catching up on here đđđ
Numbness! It is what happens when one has a terrible thing happen to them. A shock thing. A thing so big it makes the universe pale into insignificance. You describe this feeling well. As Gwen and Tony have already said, those closing lines are really really powerful. Fabulous writing x
Numbness ..yes, and blindness Tina...where is the world gone?
Thanks so much my friend, your comments and understanding are always appreciated xxÂ
