An "Angel" Fair

An angel fair I met some years ago
He smiled at me, my heart was full of joy
My friend and kin, through summer heat and snow
He was the one for me, this lovely boy
I dreamed of walking down the church’s aisle
While he would wait there at the other end
Imagining my priceless, happy smile
But no, it seemed we’d only be just friends
And still I hope there comes a cheerful day
Where he would ask me to be always his
Yes, still I hope that there’s another way
All I asked from him is only this:
I sought his love and only love from him
For time just passes and my heart wears thin
