An Ocean of Little Tears
A song to my inner child and yours
Faustian bargain of lust I burned,
along with the sly skew of his grin,
the etching of his lines,
and the crowbar, crooked as Mephisto,
dulled deep in a blood-heartened flame,
where only love is light enough to endure.
Childlike cries are a song of beauty,
and heartache becomes my petal dress.
Little feet will not remain lost in this humble haze,
where sorrow rains down as the cherry blossom,
and all florets can open in their found eleganceā
to a fair-as-Marilyn peek of moon.
Midnight aurora spills dancing pastel,
as we all sing cryptophasia over seas.
I can hear the tearsāfeel the sting of innocenceā
and salt of all tones, as we each weep into the tide.
Shared discoveries hew the gloom of heart,
with bold wings of moth dust and gold.
Phosphorescence, we dearly need your light.
Spangle and twinkle this unsleeping ship,
and saltwater wash his half-written name.Ā
Tell meāwhat is all of this for, if not shared?
I may be Triton-sealed sempiternal,
lest my wailing be hushed forevermore.
On waterless land I cry, "I am abandoned!"
I am the little one who is much like you.
I am the little one who is never truly alone.
