anzacs

~~This day they march it provokes memories of times they can't forget,
when they were young and war begun they had to stop the threat,
they fought like legends and all became heroes,
cowards amongst them I only count zeros,
it must of been horrific fighting in the pacific and on the western front,
the enemy got what they deserve I'm sorry for being so blunt,
age shall not weary the ones that are gone,
it's the ones that soldier on that are left here to mourn,
they are getting old and frail now but they still turn up in numbers,
what's going through their minds right now I'm sure everybody wonders,
although these brave men are getting old,
they still have stories to be told,
off men who's bravery I can't comprehend,
who fought an enemy that should be condemned,
these diggers sit in the pub on this great day and get into each others ear,
you see recognition on their face a smile an even a tear,
they chat while they down an ice cold beer,
the fire in their eyes could almost seer,
their young again on this special day,
and their memories are refreshed some magical way,
they talk about the old days friends lost and their regrets,
and the old foe who so many years ago use to be a threat,
We gather here today to show our respect,
and on this very special Anzac day the 25th April lest us forget
