Poem -

As I Lay Dying

As I lay dying

Dazed and dreary from opiates,

I lay flat on crisp grass hard with frost.

The clearest coldest night,

I stare into the bright abyss of stars

Visible through half naked autumnal trees.

As I lay dying

Cold seeps into my bones,

And I allow it too.

As I lay dying

I remember the pain of life

Endless disappointment, disgust, and deceit.

As I lay dying

Long blond angelic hair outstretched,

Now an icy, frosted halo.

Porcelain white skin,

lips coated with crimson lipstick, motionless.

Matching red nails on long, stiff, thin fingers.

Perfectly still and beautiful,

I lay dead.
