At The Crossing

It is terrifying for a child

The first day they cross the road

For some it comes with excitement

For most with trepidation

It's like a sparrow's first fall from the nest

Like a duckling's first waddle into the water

The heart beats faster

Eyes compelled to close

That gulp rises in the throat

It's the fear of the unknown

But mother knows it's just entering an extra expanse of "Home"

We all get to a set of lights eventually

Somewhere at the end of the block

What we thought was the limits of our universe

Gives us a rude shock

Like Columbus we discover a whole new shape to our reality

We discover other sea and land

When your time comes

I'm not going to lie

There are dangers that might consume you
from a dark matter sky

But there's an easy hack to get you through to victory

Just hold Jesus' hand
