Awakenning

The experience of waking is earth shaking
Certainly not thirst slaking
It fills one with a feeling of perturbed
Deepest slumber has been disturbed
Irritation and aggravation
Crude sunlight rudely stripping off the garments of the eyes
Ocean breeze ripping off the disguise
Barenness and dryness grit in the teeth and ruffled feathers
Hair like torn sails
Collapsed-in cheeks like a car wreck
The mirror on the wall not like the one that told you you were most beautiful of all
Sin drips down them like oily mascara
You have to think harder
Santa wasn't real nor fairies or leprachauns
Rosy life becomes prickled by thorns
Like the day you were born
And left the comfort of the womb
Only now you've awoken in a tomb of impending doom
And you wonder who brought you here
Or wove this cacoon
Kind of irrelevant under a new moon
Time to get some ilk
Follow the bread crumbs and unravel the silk
Panic just enough to digest your own crap
But look forward to the light till your wings start to flap
Don't give up it's all part of the process
We all have a story in this library of metamorphosis
There are moments to stress and moments to rest
The struggle of faith is the struggle that's bestĀ
