Poem -

Away From This Harsh Reality:

A voice...

That's ever so familiar,

screams from a near distance...

A shimmering dull pain,

at the side of my head...

Lying on my back,

I stare up at the blank ceiling...

A weightless cloud of regret,

surrounds the air around me,

making it hard for me to breathe..

As each wet memory

sheds its' way down my cheeks...

An overwhelming blanket of sorrow,

hovers over my shivering body,

leaving me drowning

in my very own emotions...

No longer being able

to keep my weary eyes open,

I turn over to my side,

and hold my knees tightly to my chest...

As my heavy eyelids close,

the bright lights fade away,

Into a never ending stream of darkness...

A slight tint of fear,

along with great shades of relief;

My mind peacefully breaks down

into the most intense,

yet simplest thoughts possible...

Reaching to reveal,

the concealed inner depths

of my lonely heart...

And I quickly drift off,

into a temporary eternity,

of heavenly bliss,

away from this harsh reality...
