Poem -

Silver Coins.

Mam
would often
get depressed

when various meters
gobbled the best

Silver coins.

Baked beans for tea
she'd sarcastically say
and not even Heinze
Still... we've bread for a day

maybe two.

Be careful in love
She would weep
As she stirred

and five of us squabled
and five of us heard

Not at all.

dad would buy
Houses. And sell them again.
to make himself rich. There.
Was always the smell

of good steak at his.

Being Me

More often than not it's the poor mum and the kids who get the raw end of the deal. And its always, those that love the hardest get hurt the worst ... 💔 Your mum must've had super human powers to raise 5 kids alone. Bless her heart. It could not of been easy for any of you! Bless!

Hugs. So many hugs 🫂 xx

I think it is soooo common that nobody pays it much attention and single mums certainly don't get any privileges or extra help. It's almost as if society likes to punish them... I often wonder about the bloody marvelous society we would live in  if it were  men who were the automatic single parent. It would be seen as a paid job in its own right I suspect 😶😶 Thanks Tina X
