Poem -

Bare Bark

I want the leaves to change colors and fall.
I want to see the reds, orange, bronze, browns, and yellows.
I want to see the trees, bare of their leaves that covered them all year;
I want to see them standing tall and proud, looking down at the accomplished colors that remain at their feet.

I want to lay in a big pile of these leaves.
I want to look back up at the trees and the sky.
I want to be like the trees, shedding their leaves;
I want to be able to let go of the security of all that shelters me,
And be able to stand bare to the world, not hiding a d*mn thing.
I want to be able to look down at my past and see the beauty in it,
While still standing tall and proud of myself without my former securities.
I want to keep on growing, keep on climbing, for this is just another year in my life.

Next year we grow again with new facades and securities, and as the seasons change, so do our feelings, and we will bare our souls and all that have formerly affected us to be who we are today.
