Battle

Battle

Inflicting catastrophic fatalities,
Beheading umpteen soldiers,
Conquering  other's kingdoms,
Plundering their wealth, women,
Many terrific battles I won.

King of kings though I'm,
I'm afraid to wage war
Against my own conscience -
The invisible, undefeatable
Enemy dwelling within me,
Without weapons, he wins.

A battle without swords,
A battle without words,
A battle without clarion,
A battle without blood,
Battle against my own conscience
Is silent but the toughest
Of all the battles I've waged
Where I stand defeated!
