Bears
By Magic Bellmore, Queen of Chaos

Soft silver fur,
Wide inky eyes,
Large round twitchy ears,
Starry skies above reflect their gentle dreams,
So peaceful and unaware of the monsters down below,
Roaring jaws crash down and tear up trees,
Metallic shiny coats unknown to any animal above or below,
Koala’s scamper from tree to tree hoping they are not next on the menu,
Strange two legged flat faced creatures chatter below,
Their monster pets breathe out toxic fumes strangling the life around them.
Glistening icy fur,
Gentle pain stricken eyes,
Dinner plate sized paws skating across ice floes,
Not enough room for her and her cubs,
Slipping into the water despite the dangers below,
Travelling thousands of miles,
Exhaustion creeping into her bones,
The despairing roar as she find her little cubs are lost to the great icy ocean,
Mother Polar bear must now fight for her survival amongst trees, shrubs and muddy coloured bears,
Slashed at and bitten she fights for scraps of food,
Heat and humidity driving her away from everything she once was.
Muddy rough dusty fur,
Jaded cherry eyes staring into your soul,
Razor blade claws clicking on the concrete surface,
Hellish iron bars trapping his wild spirit,
Deafening noise drowning out his thoughts,
Red and yellow lights blinding his tired eyes,
Sitting and standing, playing like a kitten,
This is not for a grizzly bear, but here he is amongst the humans.
Rippling inky fur,
Ancient worn eyes,
Crown of flowers resting on her head,
Snapping up treats the crowd tosses her way,
Draped over plastic branches far away from home,
Eating foods she doesn’t even recognise,
Just for a decent meal,
Laughs and jeers fill her ears,
Poked and prodded,
Shoved around by little creatures they call humans,
Painful noises ring around her cage,
Pain stricken roars,
Scared, worried growls,
Little black bear, zoo wonder.

A lovely lovely poem Bell, another one that indicates society carelessness for the creature of the Wild. I especially like the Koalas section, a real fellow Aus! All the best and kind regards. The Fish of the Sea.
