Poem -

before me

Before me, it was my mom

she practiced hours and hours and studied hard
she was the best i have ever heard
but she gave it all up
for me

before me, it was my dad.
he was different: self taught
he could sound out any song, any chord he ever wanted to play
bu he gave it all up
for me

before me, it was the millions of people that composed the music that i spend hours pouring over
before me, it was the millions of performers that didn't know if they had what it took
before me, it was the people that, like me, couldn't have the newest and best
before me, it was the students that took time out of their busy school schedules to practice
so the real question is
what makes me special?
