Being Cynical

Being Cynical

Go down on one knee and take a selfie,
In its maker; is presented our effigy!
Be humble in the presence of the new car,
How a machine is reverenced; bizarre!

Have no other car makers! except one,
Remember the App; that's just for fun!
Thou shalt not bare false text against bestie!
Honor your ride; or they shall arrest thee!

The left has drawn a firm line in the sand!
Steal or murder is a slap on the hand.
Adultery okay; just don't get caught!
Be a career politician; you'll soon be bought.

See; black mail is for sale; you won't go to jail,
The high dollar lawyer will have your bail!
Am I being cynical? you can bet your arse!
Society and media has become a farce!

Hi Jim,
Yeah, you nailed it!
Although you may not beat me
for being cynical but look out
the window - how bad is it?
Keep safe and well.
Love,
Terry.
xoxo :)

Jim "The Lad" ....

Hi Terry! I try to be positive, but when I see my Gov. leaving people to die and aiding the enemy, leaving poverty to suffer, I can't stand it ! so I stop watching the lying media and just try to help people where I can! Thank you Terry! you guys are in my prayers!

well corrupt governments, and manipulating, out right lying media for sure!, we as society need to be kinder and much more forgiving, and think about living within our means so we can help our families and or others. We seem to be fixated on the nicest car or best phone wasting billions!  My rant for the day! thanks Marion!

I hear you Jim so loud and clear. For your poem is a clarion call to all that's wrong with today's modern and so called 'civilised' society.
For many it's all about possessing the latest gizmo or the latest big flashy car or a myriad of other shiny, glitzy things.
Materialism gain at its worse, for it doesn't make them more respected or loved.
Just more hollow and shallow.
A sick joke.
Avarice and ego/vanity is sadly rife out there today and they lap it up and wallow in it.
It's not about keeping up with the Joneses but about rubbing their faces in it, or trying to, for it's the eternal unwinnable race
Always trying to belittle others with 'stuff' or 'things', things that are cold and linear and in the short run superceded by something equally soulless and disposable.
And Jim I wrote a poem that's on here called These Things and it broaches and sheds more light on my thoughts on this matter which are shared and mirrored in your well written thoughts and presented poem on this cynical/reality matter at hand.
Thanks Jim and hopefully one day things will change and people too.
