Better Than Me

For too long
I've clouded my mind
Deluding myself
To think
That I'm happy
That what I'm doing
Is enough
The human nature
Is to be curious
And hungry
I'll no longer
Be content
With scraps
I'll claw my way
Up this world
Even if I have to carry
You all on my back
I'll break who I am
To remake
Who I'll be
Who I know
Will undoubtedly
Be better
Than me

Curious you nailed it my friend, always aspire to be better, a great reality you speak of....when one is content withΒ their art oneΒ might become stagnant and inspiration couldΒ becomeΒ a swamp instead of a vibrant flowing river....much respect to you for your vision and aspiration....superb tone and point of view you give in this poem....cheersΒ
Indeed Chris, you're only as good as you think you are :)

An impeccable poem in which the author confirms what I have always believed in relation to self-delusion, the illusion ends fading before our astonished eyes as a soap bubble. You can fool the family, lovers and friends, but self ever. A greeting and congratulations on the perfect composition.
I agree Lucas, if no one will put a mirror in front of you to show you your own delusion you must disillusion yourself.
Your comment humbles me, stay curious

It is always much easier to see a speck in an alien eye that a beam of iron in the own, we spent life criticizing other failures and ignoring our own mistakes. The mirror can work, but there is no more blind than the one who refuses to see the reality in this world. A greeting.
