Beware of the Bushes

Beware of the Bushes up ahead,
Is what the warning sign read.

But my curiosity,
It got,
The best of me,
And to the bushes I went over,
I met my best friend,
My worst enemy.

He was skinny,
Sick,
He was a serpent,
When he politely asked for food,
His words were hypnotic,
And pleasant.

Seductive hiss,
Promised love,
Money,
Bliss.
I could have it all,
Music to my ears,
I could be rich.

He had only one request,
That was to feed him til,
His hunger was at rest.

So I brought him all the food,
I could gather and find.
He ate it,
And grew three times my size!

I expected with this he would be satisfied,
But it turned out he wanted more
Than I could provide,
And since I did not deliver,
He ate me too!
Like a piece of chopped liver.
