" BIRTHING VAMPIRE'S "

In the dark grimace that was this night
The rain itself seemed, inevitable
As though it were a London night
And only the fog would feel respectable
But this was New Orleans
Where even death was undetectable
Where blood soaked lives
Were washed away in Cajun ritual
And even the Zydeco
Gave no hint
Of the mausoleum songs
The rights or the wrongs
Going on, in this
The grimace
Of night,
In these, the bowels
Of the vampire city
Where humans struggling
With complexities
That mystically push them to murder
In the very first place
And then find themselves lounging
Near the river of blood
Where murders had occurred
Many times before
And finding it curious
That the puncture wounds
On their necks
Were itching
And causing them
Discomfort....

NO ~ it's not based on the Lestat stuff..........but thanx for asking bro!!.........ttyl..........T xo
Tony! Love this! I love New Orleans and its rich culture and history…and Anne Rice! Vampires, voodoo and shifters…oh my!
My mother is Creole from a little town called Franklin. We visited New Orleans and the Quarter often. I always enjoyed going to the cemetery…at the time I thought the mausoleums were little houses (smile).
Then I saw the movies STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF and LONG HOT SUMMER which certainly put a new spin on my impressions of the South.
My grandmother would tell us stories about "creatures" from the swamps and bayous…she was a mid-wife who was once called to deliver a baby that wasn't exactly human. That story and others like it were told during a heavy rain when the thunder would shake that little shotgun house almost to pieces. Our eyes would be big as saucers and her rocking chair would make the most eerie sounds during the telling.
