BLACK CAT

BLACK CAT

A black cat came to me.
It spun,
On the feral intentions
Of its lineage.

Its secret rebel lightning,
An omen.

The parallel nature of wind.
It glanced glossy.

Its blackness, re-baptized fluidity
Mother Nature's prowler.
Beast.

It pounced upon my ego.
Marked me, scarred me,
Excluded me.
No kiss. No hiss.

It mangled my depression.
It licked my wounds.
Its sandpaper tongue
Left dark and blank,
My previous impressions.

My mind is a criminal now.
Cruel. Quixotic.
A danger
To itself.

Fade...

A black cat came to me.
It spun, on the marble intentions,
Of its insanity.

It hisses now.         Deep inside.

A twist,
In the DNA
Of me.....

I had a black cat named Miggah', Tony, and he was the coolest cat I've ever owned.
He ran off one winter day (he was strictly an outdoor type unless he came in to eat or receive a little affection) and I never saw him again.
I'd had him for five years.
Until recently I've always been more of a dog person myself. I had a very bad experience with an extremely large Russian Blue who looked exactly like Church from the horror flick based on Stephen King's novella of the same name, Pet Semetary.
I won't get into it here–it still gives me the heebie-jeebies just thinkin' about it.
Anyhow, me thinks this poem about a quixotic black feline has a far deeper meaning than meets those glaring golden eyes.
It could be a metaphor for the darker side of your persona.
Or, it could simply be a metaphor for psychopathic behavior.
Whatever it's meaning, this is a fabulous piece of poetic art.

I too think it is one of the best poems I've had the pleasure of reading by you, Tony.
I rarely read the reviews of others simply because I do not want to be swayed by their opinions.
However, after reading your response to my review comments, I see what you mean.
Pleasant screams, my friend.
Keep those creative fires burnin'!

Does that mean that you didn't read the last two comments I left for you on that acrostic poem of yours and one of yesterday's?.......?? ✴

I may not have as I've been a little out of sorts since my dad passed away, Tony.
I'm not sure if I'm coming or going lately.
Rest assured, I will get to it ASAP.
Hugs, bro',

A departure in style but what a good one!!! please dont be offended but I really think this is one of your more superlative works...It has a dark, fearfully edgy quality that almost makes me  want to stop reading it before it ends ..but having been drawn inexorably into it I am compelled to! A great piece of work my friend..I have in the past had encounters with the'Black Dog' sitting firmly on my shoulders  but hope he has now found a kennel to reside in..Stay well my friend..hugs, and healing thoughts to you always xxx

Dear poet LODIGIANA!!
I am so humbled to know that you took time to consider how you might comment on this write.....I only say that because you said 'don't be offended' ~ ....... I often speak with Cherie about poets from all walks of life and successes......Lodigiana has come up many times in our conversations because we feel we are close to understanding some writers on Cosmo ~ BUT ~ when it comes to you, we are still at a loss...... yours is a pen, a profile, a body of work that remains enigmatic.... Cherie says that she's spoken with you and somehow she can't remember exactly who you are (smiles).... of course I'm talking about those simple things like age, city of residence, hair color LOL! LOL!...... I'm serious..... it's all just gone out of her head just as it has mine..... you're like one of those gypsy poets who can get a persons blood boiling and then vanish in a puff of smoke!!..... Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is ....your poetry has improved SO MUCH over the past few years that we find ourselves in awe of your talent and we SO look forward to your comments..... for me personally......I am an admirer...... and I find your elusive presence..... praiseworthy......... and even more......I look forward to sharing with you ~ thoughts and ideas on those pieces that cross our mutually beneficial paths!!.....Thank you for your kind and considerate support dear poet sister!!..... be well!!......tony ❤?

Black cat, what does it represent, occasionally a black cat will appear at my front door, purring for food so I give it whatever I have, it pulls upon my heart strings, fully aware that I am a humane person, for me the cat represents an awareness of reality and how simple life could possibly be for us humans. I also see the cat as a flicker of scenery, it upsets the balance of life as it strolls by, I'm unsure. There are not enough words for expression but you Tony have captured something amazing here.

Hi Sir McGowan!!
Thank you for sharing your impressions/experience with Black Cats my friend....... to many cultures throughout history cats have played roles from being worshipped to despised...... but in their overall/worldwide historical contributions few can dispute the fact that cats are ALWAYS attached to some mystical or spiritual implication.  For the Egyptians, who were the Biggest advocates or believers in feline potential.... the cat was sacred...,.more sacred than humans..,..and elevated to the status of Deity......ANUBIS being their most divine......Anubis was able to navigate the little known area that exists just after life's ending moments and Deaths final grip..... that gray area where the body of a  person has stopped breathing..... but the spirit/soul hasn't left the body yet...... The BLACK CAT...... has its roots in this same area in dozens of cultures the world over..... which is why they are still so fascinating to people in these modern times.  Black cats have the ability to escort the dead safely to the other side of the River Styx!! (smiles)...... anyway, I could go on forever about this subject matter...... but I don't want bore you to death!! Oh! Oops! ?.......anyway, thank you for the kind words Gerard!!.... they're very much appreciated!!........I am your ever-friend and admirer!!......tony xo ?✴✴?✴❤❤
