Blind Eye

A Tale of Delusion

My husband has beaten me again today

It's alright there's games to play

So I can forget my sore

The kids are crying and hungry

We can settle that

Hand them the iPad, while I get on the phone and chat

I've just insulted my brother and now he's feeling upset

No dramas, he'll run to the pokies and perhaps place a winning bet

A cigerette will calm me down, I will be alright

I'll comfort my broken heart with sexts late into the night

The rent's a bit behind but I know just what to do

I'll apply for job seeker aide and watch netflix like glue

I hear people are dying of Covid, of disease and famine and war

But I don't need to think bout that once I have closed the door
