Blitz

Huddled in the shelter
Waiting for the raid to be over
Goering's plan for winning
To threaten lives and killing
Our resolve to stand strong
The few, we owe so much, for so long
Battle overhead
To limit the dead
Sirens and fire every night
Children moved to avoid fright
Tells the tale of sacrifice
Some paying the ultimate price
For to rule all was Hitler's aim
But the bombs falling in his name
Did not take away our desire to be free
That's the prize earnt for you and me
So when you read of these times
Don't just focus on the crimes
Think ot everyday people and their fight
For future generations to have the right
To be all that they can be
And to call it their own country !
