Bothwellhaugh

Bothwellhaugh  --Title  by Linda M Ellard.

Surplus to requirements the folk of Bothwellhaugh

Washed away like debris to develope something "Braw"

A place for recreation, water sports a wild life haven.

Never mind a way of life,- a pit" wha's work is no for saving"

As the last shift falls silent and the ground is scraped away,

to make a place of beauty for other's  visiting today.

Those who'se lifes have changed forever, look back on struggles to survive,

against all hope.

Poverty and indifference finally wove the hangman's rope.

Visions of a time gone by in a place surreal forgotten.

Swans glide over man made loch and hide what's at the bottom.

Below the surface ruins remain of streets and homes that once existed.

Those who'se lifes moved on can't stay.

New communities now listed.

Bothwellhaugh was once a place where families came together.

Kids played outside till really late regardless of the weather.

Gardens and playgrounds ,they had none.

These things belonged to the "elite".

"Naebody sat on yer Dad's favourite seat!"

A dug or a cat for company.-for Dad perhaps a beer.

Nobody knew  what it was like to be "Rich".

Now------  "Nobody's Here!"
