Burn

I stood still as the forest burnt down around me.
It was me was in the center with a flickering match.
The pain covered me but I couldn't run.
My heart loved it but my mind only thought of hate.
It was destroying me while I thanked it.
Something inside of me knew to go,
but every part of me begged to stay.
I allowed it to steal my oxygen.
Pain was what I deserved and I knew it,
having burned so many in my past.
It was my turn to be scared.
I let the flame ambush me.
The pain hid behind a beautiful light.
I didn't understand that this could destroy,
not until I was standing in the center.
Nothing was capable of saving me.
Now I remain a ghost of who I used to be.
My lungs are still breathing and I keep a steady heart beat,
but I have lost all life that I had once contained.
All I have to hold to is memories.
I let the heat consume my entirety,
until I couldn't recognized my own reflection.
Now I shall wonder the earth , burnt and branded by my choice
Untouchable and unwanted is all I will ever be.
