BURNING THE BRIDGES:
POETESS ANANYA CHATTERJEE WRITES,
VALENTINE

As age gets the better of me
I begin to discover beauty
In two palms merging
Their lines of fate
Wrinkling together
Inch by inch,
Decade by decade..
In two lips exchanging
Everyday news
Never remembering
to utter
The I Love You's...
In two pairs of reading glasses
Forever misplaced
Forever recovered
From the silliest of places..
Each other's eyes..
I realise...
As age gets the better of me
And special days go unheeded...
You were never the lover I sought.
You were always the friend I needed.
