Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee
I’ve been suffering very long now, from the pain of wounded knees;
I’m on them every day now, for my heart is unappeased!
I’ll speak your name or hear the sounds, of the music we once shared;
And then my knees fall to the floor, our love has been impaired!
And to all my dear “Red Brothers”, I’ve no disrespect in me;
For I realize you too all suffer, from the pain of “Wounded Knee”!
So let’s form a coalition, me the poet, you the “braves”;
That we will help each other win the war, that’s come with loved ones graves!
I’ll beat the war paints drum song, with fighting words of rhyme;
And you, the bravest warriors, to tops of hills you’ll climb!
You’ll scout until you find them, foes that took our dearest kin;
And with the chants that I have written, the battle will begin!
And the outcome was early written, by the man called “Hammurabi”;
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, you’ll slay all our enemies!
And then we’ll celebrate our victory, our hearts not tortured be;
We’ll avenge all of our loved ones, and the pain of “Wounded Knee”!
