Poem -
Can it be cruel to be kind?
We listen tho lies are sometimes heard, yet can being cruel to be kind be so absurd? can this lighten the load when the going gets tough, is a deviation from the truth a troublesome bluff..
From a friend to a friend, and that shoulder to cry on..and we treasure their sincerity when all is said and done.. but if honesty is hurtful when the truth be told, is a little white lie so callously cold? A misrepresentation in a moment of time should never be meant as a maliced crime.. but hurtfulness is harming and that harmfulness is a curse, would hiding the harsh realities make a situation worse?

This is a fab Poem Jill, and yes what a dilemma... I'm afraid, thinking about it now, I'm stuck on an answer too... what is more ethical, to preserve feelings and happiness or to give dignity and respect? Very hard... I liked this poem a lot. Kind regards. The Fish of the Sea

Oh this is an interesting conundrum! Do we speak the truth, knowing that the truth will hurt? Or do we say something else which is not true but will keep them happy? This is a toughie! I think if the question is an important one then the truth is always needed. However, if it is superficial like do you think I make the best cup of tea? Then it is okay to tell an incy, wincy, little white lie to keep them happy.
