Can we go back?

Once Upon a time,
In a land far away,
there lived a beautiful princess,
with a tall castle and many fields of flowers.

Does this not give us peace?
Give us hope?
Gives us joy?

Can we go back to the days 
when we were friends?
When we were brothers and sisters?

When children were taught fairy tales,
to have imaginations,
and to play outside till mothers called "time to eat!"

When teenagers went to the movies,
skating,
and started building dreams.

When adults found love,
settled down,
and started their own families.

Can we go back to the days 
when our doors could stay open
and we could go next door
to ask for a zip lock bag of sugar.

Can we go back to the days of 
original Disney Channel movies
and Super Mario Brothers.

Todays story is so much different,
worse,
and discomforting.

Once upon a time,
 in the whole world wide,
there were people who were always arguing,
always trying to out do the next person.
