Can You Walk In My Shoes

People think they know me, but don’t know a thing. 
People have the nerve to judge me, but don’t want to discuss the skeletons in their closet. 

So I ask you …Can you walk in my shoes? 

Have you been diagnosed with an illness and found out that you have to live with it for the rest of your life?

Do you wake up every morning not knowing how your life is going to be … wondering if you are going to have a good or bad day? Have you ever had a doctor tell you that you could die from you illness in the future? 

Can you walk in my shoes? 

Have you ever had to walk around with a cane, a walker, or be pushed around in a wheelchair? 

Have you ever lost all your weight, not knowing if you would ever gain it back … having people spread all kind of lies about it?

Do you wake up every morning taking a lot of medications starting when sun rises until the sun sets … three times a day … seven days a week for the rest of your life? 

Can you walk in my shoes? 

Have you ever striven for success and had to pause because of a situation out your control? 

Have your ever spent Halloween, Thanksgiving and/or Christmas in the hospital? 

Have you ever had nurses come in your room different times during the night … just to take some blood? 

Have you ever been so weak until you couldn’t even stand up by yourself? 

Can you walk in my shoes? 

I have been through these things. 
I was diagnosed with lupus (S.L.E.) during October 2002.
Every since then I have been fighting for my life … taking on every challenge as the years come and go.
Can you say the same thing?
