Candle wax

Your hand melts inside mine
and sticks to my skin like candle wax,
a brunt out light that frees its soul
through thin lines of grey smoke.
Its warmth is still in the air
in this wintry darkness,
alight layer of still air
expanding over my body as I breathe out.
