Carnival Ride

Carnival Ride

Round and round the merry-go-round
Tipping
Twirling
To the sound
Melody
Sweet in my ear-
My air
O dearĀ
Sweet!

Round and round the merry-go-round
Tipping
Twirling
Then a frown-
As he approached.

His stench too rancid for my air!
The melody I could no longer hear;
So as if the carousel had stopped
Impulsively I jumped off-
No longer tipping
Nor twirling
To the sound of love.
