Catching The Sunlight

Catching The Sunlight

My friend swung in the sunlight - the hammock swayed,
for three months his destiny had been nicely paid,
this tropical island was the perfect paradise,
although Skegness might be twice as nice.

I don't think so - there was just no comparison,
dappled shadows sort of listened to Simon Le bon,
who nearly drowned when his boat turned upside down,
waiting to be rescued by a nearby lifeguard clown.

Now that clown said if you give me money my dear,
and you're nice to me, I'll get you out of here;
the rescue was completed, no further harm done,
back to the hammock, nicely swinging in the sun.

I saw something on the floor, bent down to pick up one,
but when I reached there, the patch of sunlight was gone.
