The Caterpillar

The caterpillar,
Fat,
Green,
And furry,
At first repulsed,
But now,
Fascinates me.

Slow,
Slimy,
The caterpillar lives in a tree,
Eating the leaves,
He's Harmless,
But icky.

Much time passed,
Before the caterpillar finally grew on me,
But once he had,
He was the best friend there could be.

Then one afternoon,
The caterpillar went to his room,
A small,
Tight space,
He called his cocoon.

Much time spent there resting,
Time well spent,
Because he came out with the best wings.

A butterfly now,
A beautiful sight,
The caterpillar's wings,
Colorful and bright.

Such a sensation,
To watch a friend grow,
The saddest tribulation,
To have to let him go,

And watch him fly away,
Hopeful thoughts,
That my friend will return one day.
