Cats Of The Alley

Cats Of The Alley

In the backs of houses

I'd soon discover,

likely to become an admirer,

because I cannot come

to call myself a cat lover.

Late at night

staring out the window darkness,

imagining....all those creatures

roaming nightly,

a dozen

pairs of shining yellow eyes

peer right back at me.

These feral instinctive animals

I find at times so odd,

gathered by the openings

with a certain look on their faces

and in that look

it makes them appear so alone;

Day in, day out

watching them strive

their alley habitat

wondering......

wouldn't they prefer a master,

who provides food

and a warm comfy home.

DUDE!!... you have been doing some stuff I can totally relate to this morning..... my family has always owned cats (or rather my mother I should say)........ when one dies its replaced the next day...... funny thing is same can never be tamed completely and stay out all night..... usually leaving some offering on the back porch for my mom..... like a squirrel or a  bird...... they're feral for sure........I Love the observant aspect of this...... your watching them in the night.......ALL STARS!!.... cool read bro!!...... talk soon...... peace and hair grease!!......T xo. ?☀✴✳

Thanks TT. The inspiration comes from my neighbor who has anywhere from six to a dozen cats in her backyard and of course they always roam all over mine, and the summer time wooh! That is one stinky ass backyard. Im more of a dog lover but I do have a bit of admiration for cats because of their alpha-ness to them. I do know when they leave dead animals it is an offering of thanks which is pretty interesting. They do get on my nerves at times but after five years of coexisting with them im over it. Peace brother.
