Chapter 21
Thumbs chatter, faces plain,
Ice cold messages seen again,
A tear drop frozen on a mobile phone,
Another child peers through the cable void alone,
Hair, eyes, mouth, nose,Â
It’s just chapter 21, I suppose.
A look over shoulder, haircut to keep same,
Ice cold messages seen again,
Another family falls apart,
We all know rhetoric’s just an art,
The colour of his skin, the style of her clothes,
It’s just chapter 21, I suppose.
It’s just a nightmare, it’s just a game,
Ice cold messages pierce my name,
I look forward not back,Â
A lust for darkness,
A sense of anxiety suddenly grows,
It’s just chapter 21 I suppose.
The darkest blood frozen in my veins,
Ice cold messages slice through my brain,
A life changed gear and put in reverse,
A mother screaming at a funeral hearse,
From cross to dagger, the words, they won,
My life, a scribble across chapter 21.
