Poem -

Charmer

We met in a dank downtown saloon

We declared our love the next afternoon

Your words suggested permanence in my life

and you spoke of making me your wife
Ā

We celebrated our new found love

By going uptown to the Shady Dove

You confided that you'd been down on your luck

I was only too happy to give you a buck

You convinced me with your persuasive smile

So I agreed to help you out for a while
Ā

You need to pay the past two months rent

Then you had to fix the El Camino's new dent

Your high tech stereo was stolen last night

You assured me a new one would put an end to your plight

Then you needed new snake skin shoes

and you only drank top quality booze
Ā

But I could see no reason to complain

ForĀ  I knew my love was not in vain

But soon you decided it was time to leave

Well I knew now your love I could not retrieve
Ā

You dug your hole much too deep

Your were nothing but a dirty low down creep

You took my money and felt no shame

But who but myself could I rightfully blame
Ā

For all noble qualities that you lack

I don't understand why i want you back
