Poem -

Child illness

Sitting in bed
watching yourself fade
life taking its course
still fighting each day
getting so weak
but still wearing a smile
not really knowing what's going on; only a child
seeing mommy crying each night
not knowing why
sadness throughout the house
not knowing why
not knowing that your life is fading
not knowing that cancer is eating away at your body
taking away from your life
taking away your childhood
sitting in bed
not knowing when you'll take the last breath
not knowing when you'll last see your family
not knowing if or when cancer will win
