Childhood

As a child I'd always dream
of places, things, and realms unseen.
But with each year
as "knowledge" grew,
dreams did drift though once solid and still.

"Your knowledge is growing," they praised me.
But something was never quite right.

" What about dreams," I questioned.
"What about those realms, emotions,"
"Those things unseen?"

They faltered
"Who cares about those thoughts and dreams,"
"These tangible things are all you need."

So each year things accumulated
Mundane objects rose to importance.
And those dreams, those things, those realms unseen

Quickly faded

Quickly faded?? Not entirely. This is a portrait of the poet as a young girl, surely?! But then she grew up. And the wonderful, and ultimately sad, thing about "realms unseen" is that we keep them secret unto ourselves.
But we CAN shape them with verse and set them alight in the world!

Welcome to Cosmo.

wow that's really beautiful. Thank you for your comment! I really love when people critique my work, it's the best way to become a better writer (outside of reading and prating ofΒ course).Β
