Poem -

Children

People of the past generations have told me that my generation is lazy- but that’s not true
and you know it

We won’t grow quickly- it takes time
We have a lot of stuff to do before we can be like you

except we must change the world
it’s our job
the economy is messed up
we live in a world of rape, violence, murder and more

we have to repair the broken ropes
but we think we’re hopeless
we are, in a way
we are treated like toddlers and then expected to do a full 180° and choose something to do for the rest of our lives

are we children though? We were forced to grow too fast
we didn’t play dolls or cars
now we’re cleaning up your mess

are we children?
