CHINESE OR JAPANESE ?

Chinese or Japanese will the Foreign Secretary please say 
We are talking about his wife at the end of the day 
On a recent trip to China's pleasant shore 
He made a gaffe like never before 

Telling his hosts that his wife was born in Japan 
When she was actually born in China what a silly man 
So this man has a university of Oxford education 
And is Foreign Secretary of our once great nation 

How can you trust a man who makes mistakes like these?
Not knowing if his own wife is Chinese or Japanese
