The Christmas Fair

Looking around me,
I watch the cars go past on the freeway,
ignoring the beauty around them,
in their rush to go on their way.
Looking around me,
I see the shoppers, and the sellers
shuffling from booth to booth
trying to make money
or save a few cents.
Looking around me,
I hear the noise and the chatter,
and the slight growl of an anxious crowd,
waiting for their night to truly begin.
Looking around me,
I wonder if they know what they miss.
Looking around me,
I see the stars,
and the snow
and the decorations that nature provided,
needing no embellishments.
Looking around me,
I feel the cold air,
and relish in its glory.
Looking around me,
I wonder how they cannot see.
Looking around me,
I see the wonder,
and the beauty
that winter brings.
Looking around me,
I see the untamed bits
still untarnished
by the touch of man.
Looking around me,
I see,
and I wonder,
how they have managed to miss it all.
Looking around me,
I see the glory of God.
