CIGARETTES AND ALCOHOL FOR DINNER

Used and abused beer can on a park bench
Lets out a pungent smell and starting to stench
Discarded cigarette butts were also there too
Who did they belong to I haven't a clue

A little further ahead I notice a cardboard box
Fastened down to the ground with secure locks
Looks to me someone slept there last night
The tatty blanket inside surely that's not right

I get to the point of my destination shaking my head
Cigarettes and alcohol for dinner and a box for a bed
Just another homeless person in another town or city
Where they are ignored and shown no respect or pity

Your words are uncomplicated and simple to understand yet you still manage to make an impactful read,

As always Kieran, an excellent write with a strong, punchy message!
