Coal Dust

it was..
a mans world beneath the sod
beams between seams
stitched by God,
threaded in moments
of comradeship and blood..
Mans muscle tearing toil..
then came the machines,
that brought a miner's Joy
Titans and Dosco thrashing
shearing black diamonds
with a giant toy,
to keep light and warm..
we drained the Earths gold..
now ..no longer master,
he rules in lesser Kingdom's
his love not stronger
nor better,
yet..
we faithful subjects mourn.

WOW!! PAULINE !!.....this was a powerful read.... as I read I kept having images of miners deep in the earth sweating buckets and the only light beaming from their helmets..... the dense coal dust thick in the air.....I have a LOT of respect for those hard working men who fought with the earth and sometimes gave up their lives to provide for their families!!.......ALL STARS!!...... thanks for this sweet poetess!!...... well written!!.......T xo ?✳✴☀
