Colateral Damage

Colateral Damage

Is there a world for me?
Where peaceful valleys
and meandering rivers flow.
Where only Nature paints
red in the autumn.

Where children play,
lost in childish games.
Mothers call them home
to sleep in safety
in warm beds.

Far away from the wounds
of stray explosions.
Bullets carelessly aimed
and bombs falling
from an azure sky.

Let me bleed for them.
Wound my body.
Let me absorb all the hate.
And when at last I die,
let all others find peace.
