Colorful Abyss

Colorful Abyss

Settling in to the darkening abyss,
Where only my bubbles and heat escape!
Ignoring coral beauty; I would be remiss,
Undulating through the leafy kelp drape.

Sharks show up in gray coats of drab,
Hunting parrot fish in cocoons of sleep.
Octopus walks by stalking the crab,
         Creatures perish, nothing doth weep.

Colors glow; as black light posters of old!
Plankton shines; bits of light in the night.
The grouper approaches; he's very bold!
But the barracuda veers as to pick the fight!

The moray eel backed into her hole,
Inquires at each and all passers by.
To show her beauty; the hidden goal,
Her stunning features could never lie!

To numbers; there is no contender,
Mollusk and fish; this ocean teems!
                    Infused with color and splendor!
Other worldly in visions and dreams!

The fish of the sea

Yeah, I must admit, the theme drew me in... But that's not the reason I`m commenting...

I love all of this (and the rest of the poem ;)). The way you have displayed it and your structure is truly incredible. Kind regards. The Fish of the Sea.

Jim "The Lad" ....

Thank so much sir Fish! Your critique on this one was very important! I have been scuba diving a few times, but I'm not an expert. I do love it so, I just don't live near the ocean. Night diving in the Caribbean was awesome!

A beautiful write Jim...the imagery shines. When you look at deep sea creatures more and more they appear like a million species of aliens don't they. I particularly love seahorses...magical creatures and hey...they have the babies...double whammy 😊😊😊
