Conscience

Conscience

I shut the door,
switched off the lights,
closed my eyes,
wrapped me in a blanket,
darkness, darkness everywhere,
yet, someone stared at me;
I tried to hide somewhere,
but it followed me always,
she was my best friend;
she was my worst foe too;
since my birth, she dwells with me,
day and night alike;
whom I loved sometimes,
whom I hated sometimes;
How long shall she stay with me -
Till my death?
Shall she be with  me in my rebirth
though I'm  skeptical of it much!
