He pulled out a gun and decided to shoot a cop
Time to make a hasty retreat and do not stop
Since 1971 the criminal has been on the run
Regretting each day when the evil deed was done

The cop survived and made a solemn vow 
He would find out who did it someway somehow 
The criminal escaped from prison in 1974
Made the cop's task of finding him harder for sure

A anonymous call was made just the other day 
I know who did it the caller to the cop did say
The criminal was paid a visit and arrest was made
The vow fulfilled and the cop no longer afraid
