Crushed Dreams
Crushed dreams
He did not wake and map out that day
He went to work to earn honest pay
23 years old his dreams are shattered
The hands of time cannot be altered
Holding his head tears stream from his eyes
Alone on the bench with no family nor allies
Culpable homicide looms over his head
Because brakes failed 22 people are dead
He sits and waits whilst his fate they decide
Reviewing the evidence they will preside
His heart heavy laden with sadness and sorrow
He ponders how he robbed them of tomorrow
Reporters, lawyers, people all around
Leaning forward wishing he was underground
To create this carnage he didn’t intend
Families broken, their hearts he can’t mend
All he has are the teardrops on his face
Events of the day he will always retrace
The failing of breaks has become his sin
His world forever silenced amidst the din
22 counts of murder now the charge
Yet real murderers roam our country at large
This state of affairs has left us fraught
Not to taint your judgement, here’s a thought
It takes years on the road to earn the respect
And gain experience for driving to perfect
With that been said pray tell how the fuck

A horrific accident occurred in Durban on Thursday 5th of September that shocked our nation. The brakes of an 18 wheeler truck fails. The runaway truck hurtles down an off ramp across a major intersection, through a red traffic light and wipes out four fully laden taxis and the occupants of VW Jetta – injuring 80 and killing 22 people. The driver (Sanele Goodness May) 23yrs old was arrested and faces charges of 22 counts of murder. The video can be viewed on you tube… just type in….. Pinetown fields hill crash
a really really sad and hard judgement to pass familys will want payback and his life im sure is already paying for it.  my son is a year older and if it was an accident  i would hope for leniency  at that age they think they can control any vehicle .  and if the truck was owned by his boss then it should have been his responsibility to service it  . a bit of blame should be on his head. but im afraid if it was the young mans truck then the blame is all his .  my country might be different but thats the way it works here .
a very sad story /poem lee-anne and one that will definately have me thinking  tina x
Hi T,
it is very sad, my kids too are 18 and 20 - so as a mother my heart goes out to him - the truck does have an owner - all currently under investigation - we wait in anticipation they young man appears again in court on the 18th. Currently there is a lot of controversy around this and our country's justice system sucks, all we can do is pray -
great write Lee-Anne x
