CRY FOR THE MOON

CRY FOR THE MOON

I miss the moon
For she no longer visits
To wax and wane the doom

Some say she has journeyed
far
Away from sad earth's dying
star
Some say that it broke her so
To know that she must go

Others say Mars stole her love
That she shines beside Great
Red above
A glowing beauty deep in love
And I hope that this is true

But I cry for her most endless
nights
For I miss her sacred magic
light
And I fear the gaping empty

black
As I whisper to her, please
come back

But some say that we killed her
dead
That we loved her not enough,
it's said
That she died up there in hurt
and angst
Though I think that this is lies

But I worry what became of her
As I stand in black night's
lonely air
Staring at a moon shaped hole
That once held proud her
moon shaped soul

And I cry for her most endless
nights
For tis so so cold without her
light
And I'm scared, so scared of
the empty black
Oh moon, oh moon, please
please come back...

Jim "The Lad" ....

Love the imagery! I wrote a poem about the earth that I will share in the coming months that talks about the moon, this reminds me of it and wish it had been this good!

Oh Marion.... You have nailed it in these words! Absolutely nailed it. The whole poem is absolutely gorgeous. Sad, lonely and desperate... But oh so very beautiful with it! This is truly an amazing poem. I feel I can connect to this poem. I adore this poem, so pinned of course! There are so many poems around that rhyme for rhymes sake and some that do not rhyme that should and a great many that have no flow. Your poem here has flow, rhyme and emotion that is just sublime. All of your work is to such a high standard and this one is among the very best.  Hugs x
